Rowan Pushes Past Women's Lacrosse

Glassboro, N.J. (4/4/15) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-6 matchup against Rowan University in their first NJAC contest of the 2015 season.

The Cougars (2-7, 0-1 NJAC) were the first to strike as junior Jordan Blanda notched an unassisted goal with 24:52 to go in the first half.  That lead would be short lived, however, as the Profs (4-4, 1-0 NJAC) tied the game and took the lead for good in the next two minutes on goals by Rachel Emerson and Becca Wood.  Rowan kept the pressure on and would score nine straight before Kean stopped the run with an unassisted tally from Guilia Vitolo at the 2:09 mark.  Rowan would add one more before the break and headed into halftime with a 10-2 lead.

The Profs paced their offense in the second half and led by as many as 14 (18-4), but Kean scored the last two of the day off unassisted marks from Sam Gnapp and Brittany Ballack.

Blanda finished with two goals, three draw controls, three groundballs and three caused turnovers.  Ballack (pictured left) added three groundballs while senior Marisa DeAngelis provided three draw controls and a caused turnover on defense.

Kean returns to action on Tuesday when they host Montclair State University at 7 p.m.
