Stevens Edges Women's Lacrosse, 6-5

Union, N.J. (3/4/19) – Stevens used a late three goal surge to edge the Kean University women's lacrosse team by the final of 6-5 on Monday afternoon.

Maeve McGovern scored two of the three aforementioned goals, including the game-winner with just 2:11 to go in the contest.  The win marks the first for Stevens on the young season (1-1), Kean falls to 0-2.

The Cougars jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with two goals in the first two minutes of action.  Danni LeSaint got things started less than a minute into the game and Katie Pileggi netted a free position shot 52 seconds later.

McGovern erased the shutout and Kyra Bednarski tied the game up at two-all with 5:27 left to go in the first.  LeSaint put Kean back on top 16 seconds later before the two teams traded goals to end the first period with the Cougars holding a 4-3 advantage.

Morgan Graham would score the Cougars last goal seven minutes into the second half, before Stevens made a late run with three goals in the final 10 minutes.

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they travel to St. Mary's College (Md).
