UNION, N.J. (3/19/19) – Meghan Tillger netted four goals as the Kean University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, 15-8 on Tuesday afternoon.
Corie Hack totaled five points on three goals and two assists for the Athenas who improve to 8-1 overall. Danni LeSaint, Taylor Nyberg, Sarah Powers and Morgan Graham each scored a goal for the Cougars who fall to 1-5 overall.
CMS scored five unanswered to start the game, before Powers got Kean on the scoreboard with a free position shot with 21:21 remaining in the first half. Tillger notched her first goal of the afternoon with 7:25 to play, but the Athenas responded with three unanswered goals and the 11-2 lead at halftime.
CMS increased their advantage to 13-4 before Tillger netted three straight Cougar goals. LeSaint and Graham were able to get scores late as the Athenas were well in control before the final buzzer.
Despite the loss, the Cougars led on shots (26-24) and draw controls (13-12), while being even on groundballs (19-19).
Head Coach B.J. Johnson and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 23rd in Middletown, Conn. against the nationally-ranked Cardinals of Wesleyan University at 1:00 p.m.
