Women's Lacrosse Propels Past FDU-Florham

Madison, N.J. (3/27/19) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team used a balanced scoring attack to propel past FDU-Florham by the final of 15-9 on Wednesday afternoon.

Four Cougars netted three goals each in the contest as Kean collected their second win of the season (2-6). Caitlyn Damon led all players for the Devils (3-4) in the loss.

After Sarah Powers took an early 1-0 lead on a free position goal, the Devils bounced back with two of their own to take their only lead of the day (2-1).  The Cougars then rolled off four straight (two each from Danni LeSaint and Taylor Nyberg) to take the lead for good.  Both teams traded goals to close out the first half with Kean leading 7-4.

It was a see-saw affair for the first 20 minutes of the second period with the teams trading goals before the Cougars finally tallied back-to-back markers by Meghan Tillger and Morgan Graham, both in the 49th minute.  Kean added four more down the stretch for the balanced win.

LeSaint finished with three goals, two assists and five draw controls while Tillger added three goals and eight draw controls.  Katie Pileggi finished with three goals, one assist and three draw controls while teammate Lex Meyer caused five turnovers.

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they host Farmingdale State College at 1 p.m.
