Mahwah, N.J. (4/16/19) – Danni LeSaint led all players with five goals on the night to help the Kean University women's lacrosse team edge Ramapo College by the final of 14-11 on Tuesday afternoon in NJAC action.
LeSaint added an assist and three draw controls as the Cougars improve to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Nicole Jaskot led the Roadrunners who fall to 6-6 this spring and 0-3 in the NJAC.
Kean sprinted out to a 4-1 lead in the first 12 minutes of action behind goals from Amanda Ehrhart, Sarah Powers and LeSaint. The Cougars maintained a three goal advantage after swapping goals with Ramapo, but it was then the Roadrunners who went on a four goal spurt to tie the game and take the lead. Jaskot collected a hat-trick in the run.
The Cougars responded with six straight goals spanning the first and second halves to take the lead back for good.
Leading by six midway through the final period the Cougars held off a Ramapo rally to walk away with their second conference win of the season.
Powers finished with three goals and five draw controls while Taylor Nyberg registered one goal and three assists with two groundballs. Defensively Emily Bretschneider recorded four groundballs and four caused turnovers.
Kean returns home for senior day on Saturday, April 20th against Rutgers-Camden. First draw is at 1 p.m.
