UNION, N.J. (4/23/19) – Danni LeSaint, Taylor Nyberg, and Meghan Tillger each tallied a hat-trick as the Kean University women's lacrosse team earned a non-conference victory over Union College, 11-9 on Tuesday afternoon.
LeSaint finished with four points on three goals and one assist for the Cougars who improve to 7-9 overall. Mary Trop totaled three points on two goals and one assist for the Dutchwomen who fall to 6-7 overall.
An extremely tight game saw the Cougars trail for the entire first half and the beginning of the second half. Kean eventually took their largest lead of the contest at 7-5 on three straight goals that included unassisted scores from LeSaint, Tillger, and Nyberg. The final 15 minutes saw the Cougars hold two goal leads before the Dutchwomen climbed back in to tie the game on two separate occasions
Kean would keep the lead for good with back-to-back goals by Tillger and LeSaint with less than six minutes remaining.
Sarah Powers totaled three points on two goals and one assist, while Morgan Graham totaled three assists. Tillger and LeSaint each finished with five draw controls apiece, while Graham and Josie Pagano totaled four groundballs each. Pagano also made 11 saves in 60 minutes of work between the pipes. Emily Bretschneider tallied three caused turnovers.
Head Coach B.J. Johnson and the Cougars will return to action in Ewing, N.J. on Saturday, Apr. 27th against the nationally-ranked Lions of the College of New Jersey at 1:00 p.m.
