Newport News, Va. (9/11/11) – The Kean University women’s soccer team used three second half goals to edge host Christopher Newport University, 3-2, Sunday afternoon.
The win improves the Cougars record to 3-2.
Kean trailed 1-0 heading into the second half before junior Julianna Natale tied things up at 50:11 off a long cross from freshman Shelby Pedersen. Just over a minute later, the Cougars took their first lead of the game as senior Danielle Esposito hit a hard shot from inside the box off an assist from Natale with a long ball from the left side of the field.
The Captains (2-3) tied things at two-all at 75:44 after a scrum in front of the cage, but the Cougars would go ahead for good a minute later as sophomore Amanda Repko (pictured left) scored the game-winner, her first goal of the season, on a header off a corner opportunity by junior Carly Seidel.
Freshman Kaitlin King recorded the win in goal as she recorded five saves.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, September 14th when they travel to the University of Scranton.
