The Cougars collected their fourth straight shutout win on the season, improving their record to 8-4-1 and 3-1-1 in the NJAC.
Twelve minutes into the match, Kaitlyn Pallitto broke a scoreless tie on a breakaway feed from Jurcsek, drawing out the goalkeeper and finishing with a wide open net to score the first goal of the game. A little over 15 minutes later, Jurcsek (pictured left) collected a pass from Kayla Birth from 15 yards out and finished after going around the goalkeeper to score. The final goal of the half came six minutes later when Jurcsek was at it again. On a breakaway with two defenders to beat, Jurcsek drew out the goalkeeper similar to teammate Pallitto and scored with a wide open net, unassisted.
Jurcsek's first-half performance gave the Cougars the momentum to hold the lead over William Paterson. Columbia scored back to back in the 68th and 69th minute of the second half. After the Pioneer's goalkeeper saved her initial shot, Columbia hammered home the rebound. Columbia scored again off an assist by Sabrina Sirni on a cross from the sideline finishing near the end line in the right corner of the net.
Kat Clint made six saves in the loss in goal for the Pioneers. William Paterson is now 3-7-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the NJAC following this afternoon's match up.
Kean held the shot advantage 20-8.
The Cougars will continue with NJAC play Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when they host Montclair State University.
