Bystrycki Records Eight Saves as Women’s Soccer Falls to Scranton

UNION, N.J. (9/1/18)- Mary Bystrycki recorded eight saves as the Kean University women's soccer team fell to the University of Scranton, 3-0 on the second day of the Cougar Classic.

Jamie Hreniuk scored two goals for the Royals who improve to 2-0 overall. Cori Dengel tallied a team-high four shots for the Cougars who fall to 1-1 overall.

Scranton's defense kept Kean at bay all afternoon, holding the Cougars to just eight shots. The Royals tallied 24 shots, including above 10 apiece in both halves. Scranton scored early in the contest, when the ball deflected off Bystrycki's glove and went into the net.

Scranton would answer two more times in the second half with goals by Hreniuk in the 87th and 89th minutes.

Brittany Birth totaled two shots, while Emily Bretschneider and Tayler Muce both tallied one apiece.

Head Coach Brian Doherty and the Cougars will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 5th, hosting the Devils of FDU-Florham at 7:30 p.m.
