Ewing, N.J. (10/6/18) - The sixth ranked College of New Jersey women's soccer team won their seventh straight game with a 1-0 win over Kean University on Saturday.
The Lions improved to 9-1 on the year including 5-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Cougars fell to 3-5-4 and 1-2-2 in conference action. Today's win marks the 25thconsecutive regular season NJAC win for TCNJ, and the 20th straight home regular season win as well.
Neither side was able to get on the scoreboard in the first half. The Lions had their share of chances, as they held a 19-0 shot advantage in the opening half.
TCNJ broke through in the 57th minute. Randi Smith sent in a shot that was blocked and popped up in the air. The ball was bouncing around in a crowd, and Ally DeRiggi came up with it and drew a hard foul that resulted in a penalty kick. Arielle Curtis punched in the penalty kick to put the Lions up 1-0.
The Lions held a 30-1 advantage in shots as well as a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
Ewing native Mary Bystrycki recorded 11 saves on the afternoon.
Kean returns home to face Ramapo College on Wednesday in NJAC action.
