Five Cougars Earn All-NJAC Women's Soccer Nods

Pitman, N.J. (10/31/18) – The Kean University women's soccer program had five Cougars named to the NJAC All-Conference squads as announced by the conference office and voted on by the league's 10 coaches.

Senior Cori Dengel earned second-team recognition while seniors Carley Garlasco and Brittany Birth, junior Deana Abdou and freshman Mary Bystrycki were tabbed honorable mention.

Dengel has played and started every conference game this season, recorded two goals and an assist.  Overall she has registered four goals and two assists this season, including a penalty kick goal.

Garlasco has started every game this season, including all nine NJAC contests.  She has tallied two assists in NJAC play as well as a key game winner in the opening round of the NJAC tournament at Stockton.

Birth has been another key member of the midfield, playing and starting every game this season.  In nine NJAC games she recorded a goal while adding three assists and another two goals in non-conference action. 

Abdou leads a defensive unit that has allowed just seven goals in NJAC play this season.  She has started every game this season.

Bystrycki has played just under 800 minutes of NJAC regular season action this season.  In that time she has 61 saves while allowing just seven goals (0.83 GAA).  She has been a part of three NJAC regular season shutouts.  Overall, she has started 13 games this season, stopping 103 shots and allowing just 11 goals.
