Women’s Swimming Collects Season-Bests at Met Championships

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (2/21/18) - The Kean University women's swimming team placed 16th out of 18 teams at the Metropolitan Championships hosted by Rutgers University this past weekend.

The Cougars placed new season records in multiple events during the three-day competition. Individually, Darlene Holmes, Molly Lasko and Joy-Ann Dimaculangan collected top times in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard backstroke, the 100-yard butterfly, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard medley events. Holmes set new season records in the 50-yard freestyle (27.07), the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.32) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.91). Lasko set season bests in the 200-yard freestyle (2:23.38), the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.60) and the 200-yard IM (2:30.39). Dimaculangan collected a season best in the 100 yard back (1.22.61) and shaved 34 seconds off her time in the 500 freestyle event. 

In the team events, Kean tallied new season bests in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:56.73), the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:24.35) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:15.85). Lasko, Holmes and Dimaculangan competed with Jessica Leandro in all three teams event where records were set.
