During his time, the Tigers had five selections to the All-Ivy second team.

Prior to Princeton, he spent one season as an assistant coach with the Boys and Girls Varsity Swimming program at Scotch-Plains-Fanwood High School in Scotch Plains, N.J. Swenson coached the boy's team to a North Jersey Section 2, Group B Sectional Championship and the girls to a 2016 Union County Championship.

Before Scotch Plains, Swenson was the Director of Operations for the Men's Swimming and Diving program at the University of Notre Dame. From 2012-2014, Swenson was an acting Head Coach and an assistant coach with Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, N.J. The Peacocks set 64 school records, had the second highest finish at the MAAC Championships and coached three MAAC Swimmers of the Year.

Before his time with the Peacocks, he was a graduate assistant coach at Rowan University from 2006 to 2008. He primarily coached the stroke and IM groups, while helping to coach a Division III All-American.

A 2005 graduate of Rowan, Swenson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management, while being a four year member of the Profs men's swimming program. During his time in the pool, he was a two-time NCAA qualifier in the 200 breaststroke, a team MVP, team Rookie of the Year and the Walter J. Holt Leadership Award recipient. He went on to earn his Masters in Business Administration in 2008.
