Wrapping Up: Women's Tennis 2017

The Kean University women's tennis team completed their fall slate at 9-5 overall and 2-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Cougars collected their highest win total since 2010 and the most under Head Coach Jodi Valenti.

After losing three matches in a row to start the season, Kean won nine out of their last 11 matches including shutting out Hunter College, the College of New Rochelle, PSU-Brandywine, and York College. In the NJAC, the Cougars collected victories over William Paterson and Rutgers-Camden.

At singles, senior Alyssa Peterson and sophomore Anna Chan both collected nine wins, while senior Rose Hughes, junior Emily Kopp and senior Andrea Mendez all tallied eight victories. Peterson earned most of her victories at #4 singles, while Chan collected her victories at #5 singles. Freshman Nicole Nin collected seven wins with a perfect 3-0 record at #6 singles. Senior Naylah Hinton finished with a 4-12 record, but tallied all her victories at #1 singles.

On the doubles side, the combination of Hinton and Peterson collected the most victories at #1, while the duos of Hughes and Kopp, Kopp and Mendez and Kopp and sophomore Carlie Casterline all tallied three victories apiece.
