UNION, N.J. (9/29/15) – The Kean University women's volleyball team made short work of NJAC rival William Paterson University on Tuesday night in a 3-0 sweep. Joelle Tondi had 16 points on 14 kills and a pair of blocks to lead the Cougars.
Kean is now 9-10 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC. Paterson falls to 7-6 but 1-3 in the conference.
The Cougars held Paterson to 18 points in the first set and the just 12 points in the second. Kean stymied the Pioneers to the tune of a negative-.086 hitting percentage in the second set.
Kendall Sonico (pictured left) dished out a season-high 42 assists, added 11 digs, two kills, an ace and a block to her impressive stat line.
In today's sweep Tondi almost matched her career high of 15 kills set in the Cougars' last match – a five-setter - against Hunter. She hit .393 on 28 attempts.
Freshman Vikki Stec hit .545 to lead Kean in that category and a total of eight different players recorded kills for Kean.
Nicole Spicer and Erin Roach both had double-digit kills for William Paterson.
The Cougars will return to Harwood Arena to host the six-team Kean Invitational this Friday and Saturday. Friday matches begin at 4 p.m. and Saturday starts at 10 a.m.
