Women’s Volleyball Ends Season to Nationally Ranked John Hopkins in NCAA Tournament

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (11/10/17)- The Kean University women's volleyball team ended their season with a 3-0 loss to No. 12 John Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Stevenson University on Friday evening.

Simone Bliss finished with a match-high 18 kills for the Blue Jays who improve to 25-3 overall and advance to Saturday's second round matchup against either Stevenson or Hunter. Brianna Calvano finished with 13 assists and four digs for the Cougars who finish their season at 28-11 overall.

Kean struggled against the nationally ranked Blue Jays, who came into today's contest with a five-game winning streak. JHU finished the match with a .379 hitting percentage and 46 kills, while the Cougars barely cracked a positive hitting percentage (.015) and 15 kills.

Sara Ridgway totaled five kills and a solo block, while Joelle Tondi and Jesse Larkin each tallied three kills. Kortnee Nelson tallied 11 digs for the Cougars. Elizabeth Wuerstle finished with nine kills and Natalie Aston totaled 35 assists for the Blue Jays.
