Women’s Volleyball Splits Final Day of Ducks Classic

HOBOKEN, N.J. (9/8/18)- Brett Harper totaled 31 kills and totaled a .414 hitting percentage as the Kean University women's volleyball team split their matches with #22 Swarthmore College and the College of Mount Saint Vincent on the final day of the Ducks Classic hosted by Stevens.

#22 Swarthmore 3, Kean 0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-18)

Harper finished with seven kills, while Vikki Stec added six kills and seven digs as the Cougars dropped a straight sets sweep to the nationally-ranked Garnets of Swarthmore College. Brianna Calvano totaled 17 assists, while Jesse Larkin and Zoe Strozewski both collected five kills apiece.

Emma Morgan-Bennett and Mehra Den Braven combined for 23 kills for Swarthmore.

Kean 3, CMSV 2 (28-30, 25-17, 18-25, 25-20, 15-6)

Harper notched a new career high with 24 kills and added 10 digs as the Cougars rallied to defeat the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

After trading the first four sets, the contest entered the deciding fifth set. The set was tied at 6-6 before Harper served for the final eight points including tallying four aces in the process.

Larkin added 14 kills and a .684 hitting percentage, while Stec totaled 13 kills and 12 digs.  Calvano handed out 53 assists and added 13 digs.

Tara Maloney totaled 18 kills and 14 digs for the Dolphins of CMSV.

Head Coach Don Perkins and the Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 11th, hosting the Red Hawks of Montclair State University in their NJAC opener at 7:00 p.m.
