Women’s Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Five Matches with Sweep of William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. (9/18/18)- Zoe Strozewski finished with a match-high 13 kills and a .407 hitting percentage as the Kean University women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to five matches with a straight-set sweep of William Paterson University on Tuesday evening.

Vikki Stec and Jesse Larkin both tallied 11 kills as the Cougars improve to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Alyson Toman finished with 12 kills for the Pioneers who fall to 9-1 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.

After dominating the opening set with a .500 hitting percentage, the Cougars struggled but found a way to win in the second and third sets. Kean trailed 9-4 midway through the second set before the Cougars rallied with a 7-3 run that included Stec serving for five straight points.

In an extremely tight third set, Kean faced set point before Julia Fiore served for the final three points to capture the set and the match.

Brianna Calvano handed out 31 assists, while Michelle Froehlich totaled 12 assists. Kortnee Nelson collected 20 digs, while Stec added nine.

Head Coach Don Perkins and the Cougars will return to action in Jersey City, N.J. on Thursday, Sept. 20th against the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University at 7:00 p.m.
