Women’s Volleyball Draws Wesleyan (Conn.) in NCAA First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (11/5/18) - After capturing their second straight NJAC title, the Kean University women's volleyball team drew the Cardinals of Wesleyan (CT) University in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament.

The 19-15 Cougars will face the 17-5 Cardinals at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island on Friday Nov. 9th at 12:30 p.m. The Wildcats are the site host for the regional, which will welcome Eastern Connecticut State from the Little East Conference, Franklin & Marshall from the Centennial Conference, SUNY New Paltz from the SUNYAC, Springfield College from the NEWMAC, and Maine Maritime from the NAC.

Kean swept Montclair State to capture their second NJAC championship under Head Coach Don Perkins on Saturday. Wesleyan was upset in the semifinals of the NESCAC conference tournament by Amherst College, 3-0 on Saturday. Stasie Litinsky totaled 11 kills and six digs, while Kaira Muraoka-Robinson collected 29 assists and 11 digs. The Cardinals earned an at-large bit into the NCAA tournament.

The winner of Kean and Wesleyan will face the winner of Springfield and Maine Maritime. The other half of the regional has Franklin & Marshall squaring off with New Paltz and Johnson & Wales taking on Eastern Connecticut State.
